and Animal Models for Infectious Diseases program tests antimicrobial activity of products against bacterial pathogens, including those derived from clinical specimens, that are classified as emerging agents or
NIAID Category A-C pathogens
. This service does not support antiviral screening against viral hemorrhagic fevers or poxviruses
Available bacterial species for

screening include:
Bacillus anthracis
Brucella abortus
Burkholderia mallei
Burkholderia psyeudomallei
Coxiella burnettii
Francisella tularensis (types A and B)
Methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus
(MRSA) and Vancomycin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus
(VRSA)
Yersinia pestis
