Pathogen Functional Genomics Resource Center (PFGRC)

Comparative Genomics

The PFGRC collaborates with the scientific community through studies in microbial comparative genomics (non-Government link). These studies generally compare the sequence and/or genome content of large collections of closely related species and strains associated with infectious disease and /or biodefense. The results of collaborative research on comparative genomics will lead to publicly available data sets which may be useful to the wider microbial research community. Several platforms are utilized in these studies, including DNA microarrays for gene discovery and comparative genomic hybridization and Affymetrix GeneChip resequencing technology for the identification of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs).
