Influenza Studies at the NIH Clinical Center

You can join the fight against influenza by volunteering to participate in a clinical study. The following studies are being conducted at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD. The links lead to full study titles and descriptions:

• A Pilot Study for Collection of Anti-Influenza A H1N1 (Swine Flu) Hyper-Immune Plasma
• Influenza in People With Normal and Weakened Immune Systems
• Research Respiratory Tract Procedures in Healthy Adult Volunteers and Adult Patients To Obtain Specimens for In Vitro Analyses of Infection Pathogenesis and Susceptibility
• Vaccine for Prevention of Bird Flu (An Open-Label, Randomized Phase I Study in Healthy Adults of 4 Prime-Boost Schedules with Monovalent Influenza Subunit Virion (H5N1) Vaccine (Sanofi Pasteur, Inc), Administered Alone or Following Recombinant DNA Plasmid (H5) Vaccine
• VRC 308: An Open-Label Phase I Study of the Safety and Immunogenicity of an Investigational H1 DNA Influenza Vaccine, VRC-FLUDNA057-00-VP, in Healthy Adults 18-70 Years Old

Study-related medical exams and medication will be provided, and you may be compensated for your time. The NIH Clinical Center is conveniently located on the Metro’s Red Line at the Medical Center station.
