  1. Review of Grant Applications -

The National Advisory Allergy and Infectious Diseases Council convened on Monday afternoon, May 20, to consider applications en bloc in the areas of allergy and immunology, microbiology and infectious diseases, and AIDS.

Pending Actions: The Council reviewed 642 research and training applications with primary assignment to NIAID for a requested amount of $472,477,929 in first-year direct costs and recommended approval of 606 applications for $401,151,487 in first-year direct costs. Nine Method to Extend Research in Time (MERIT) awards were recommended for approval. A resume of Council recommendations is attached to these minutes and is available upon request from the NIAID Committee Management Office.
