Description of Research Program

The VRC Flow Cytometry Core Facility contains seven instruments with capabilities of serving a wide range of flow cytometric clinical and research demands. Currently, the laboratory has three FACSCaliburs, which can measure up to 4-colors and these are equipped with a HTS (High Throughput Sampler) device that aids in fast acquisition of specimens from 96 well tray. The FACSDiVa sorter is capable of high-speed, high-end multicolor analysis, measuring 18 parameters. Two LSR II instruments are equipped with HTS units and are capable of measuring 20 parameters. Additionally, the FACSAria is a 20 parameter high-speed sorter located in our BSL-3 facility and is capable of infectious cell sorting. (Please see the Instrumentation section links for more detail).

The VRC Flow Cytometry Core Facility services the research requirements of the VRC investigators as well as the clinical needs of the vaccine trials supported by the VRC. In addition, we offer limited collaborations to NIH investigators and other outside facilities as determined by the director. Please contact Stephen Perfetto or Mario Roederer for more information.

VRC Flow Cytometry Core Facility Usage and Policies

Usage within the VRC: All VCR users access electronic sign-up calendars located in the public folder on the Outlook Mail Server for all immunophenotyping procedures. Sorting procedures are scheduled through the VRC core facility personnel only.

Collaboration outside of the VRC: Access to the facility is limited to those who collaborate with VRC investigators. Please contact Mario Roederer for more information.
