Comparative Medicine Branch

Carol Clarke, D.V.M., Diplomate, ACLAM

Facility Veterinarian

Dr. Clarke obtained her D.V.M. from Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1983 and then practiced small animal medicine in New York City for 12 years. In 1995, she entered a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship program in laboratory animal medicine at SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals in Pennsylvania. In 1998 following this fellowship, she accepted a position with the Veterinary Resources Program at NIH.  Dr. Clarke initially worked with rodents as the facility veterinarian for buildings 14F and 14G and later worked with non-human primates as the facility veterinarian for bldg. 14D.

Dr. Clarke joined the NIAID Comparative Medicine Branch in June of 2001 and became board certified in laboratory animal medicine in July of 2005.  She is currently the facility veterinarian for buildings 4 and 10 and the liaison for shared and central facilities.
