Malaria Vaccine Development Branch

Quality Control Unit

The Quality Control Unit plays a central role in the mission of MVDB by providing quality control evaluation of recombinant proteins, preclinical and clinical bulk drug substance, and drug products. The Unit's work ensures that well-characterized and high-quality products are produced for clinical testing.

Additional responsibilities of the unit include

  • Develop assays as needed to fulfill quality control testing required to support MVDB Investigational New Drug application (IND)
  • Oversee the operation of contract quality control evaluations
  • Conduct research to support the overall mission of MVDB
  • Collaborate with scientists from within and outside of NIH
  • Provide training and consultation to staff members from within and outside of MVDB
