Peptide-Carrier Protein Conjugation

  • Conjugates are available in ranges of 2mg to 20mg per batch, but most typically as 5mg or 10mg, and are usually described as a product of coupling of equal amounts of synthetic peptide and appropriate carrier protein. Depending on the coupling chemistry and work-up methodology used, a typical request for coupling of 5mg of the synthetic peptide to 5mg of carrier protein, such as KLH or BSA, would result in 4 – 10mg of the conjugate.
  • Conjugations can be performed utilizing various cross-linking reagents, such as MBS or SSMC for Cys-containing peptides (most typical), glutaraldehyde for the free N-terminal or Lysine(s) containing peptides, or diazotized benzidine for Tyrosine and/or Histidine containing peptides. Conjugates are supplied to the requester either in the form of the frozen solutions/suspensions or as lyophilized powders.
