Training in NIAID Labs

Basic and Clinical Research Training

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) offers both clinical and laboratory research training programs for students and postdoctoral fellows. Programs include accredited medical fellowship training in allergy/immunology and infectious diseases. Applications for available NIAID postdoctoral fellowship positions can be submitted online.

Office of Training and Diversity

OTD conducts outreach programs to recruit students interested in exploring careers in biomedical research, and designs and conducts training programs to promote diversity in NIAID laboratories. OTD programs include:

Intramural NIAID Research Opportunities (INRO)

NIAID's annual program for underrepresented minority students interested in exploring career opportunities in allergy, immunology, and infectious diseases.

Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research

The Summer Internship Program in Biomedical Research and its sister program, the Summer Research Fellowship Program, offer students the unique opportunity to join one of the NIAID’s research laboratories for a minimum of 8 weeks beginning in May through September.

Intramural Scientific Collaboration Program (ISCP)

This program will serve as a mechanism to foster and support collaborations and cooperative research between VRC investigators and other investigators within the NIH intramural program.
