HIV Vaccine Awareness Day

Local and National HIV Vaccine Awareness Day Activities

The community-based organizations and HIV vaccine clinical trial sites listed below will conduct public outreach activities to commemorate the ninth annual HIV Vaccine Awareness Day on May 18th. These outreach activities aim to educate communities about preventive HIV vaccine research, helping to dispel myths and misinformation and encouraging people to be supportive of those individuals involved in HIV vaccine research.

Event Description: AIDS Alabama, in collaboration with the UAB Vaccine Clinic, will participate in a visibility campaign to bring about greater awareness regarding vaccine research. This event will utilize the Birmingham Rapid AIDS Testing (BRAT) Mobile to serve as a center for HIV testing, dissemination of vaccine awareness information, and recruitment for HIV vaccine clinical trials.

Event Description: This is a community forum to present the recent findings from the Project Embrace - Brazos Abiertos research study, which is committed to including African Americans and Latinos in HIV vaccine research as participants, researchers, educators, and witnesses of the process. It will also encourage the community to become increasingly involved in the search for an HIV vaccine.
