Introduction and Goals

Identifying and understanding the risk factors associated with HIV acquisition and transmission, and the development and progression of AIDS in men, women, and adolescents are critical aspects in the fight against this disease.

Research Activities

To better understand the biology and clinical course of HIV, NIAID supports investigator-initiated epidemiological research as well as a number of targeted programs and several large HIV/AIDS epidemiological cohort studies
