Mary A. Allen, R.N, M.S.
November 8, 1997

This forum is focusing on the current status of a vaccine to prevent AIDS. We will be answering questions such as:

  • What do scientists mean by basic, preclinical and clinical research?
  • What is a vaccine?
  • What are the strategies involved in designing a vaccine to prevent AIDS?
  • How does a vaccine to prevent AIDS get developed, tested and licensed?
  • What is the role of the NIH and the community in this process?
